The essential spring time German lager. Märzen is in fact the vernal equivalent to the autumnal Oktoberfest; grist to yeast, these two are twins. Märzen features a backbone of Vienna, Munich, and Pilsner malts which offer a light malty sweetness which gives way to gentle toasty characteristics. Noble hop varieties are used to support the authenticity of this style. These continental hops offer up a soft balance to juxtapose the malt sweetness.
